SALINA — The Ottawa Cyclones are 4-A state champs. The Cyclones picked up their first state title since 1971 by beating Highland Park of Topeka 54-45 Saturday at Salina’s Bicentennial Center. The Scots jumped out to an early lead but the Cyclones came back to lead by one at half time. Ottawa slowly pulled away at the end of the third quarter and early in the fourth quarter by hold the Scots scoreless for about seven minutes. Cyclone standout and Duke signee Semi Ojeleye hit 27 points, ending his high school career with the state single-season scoring record, the career scoring record and the 4-A state tournament scoring record. The Cyclones end the season undefeated. A community celebration honoring the team has been scheduled for Wednesday evening in front of Pizza Time in the 200 block of South Main Street.
