OTTAWA — A 31-year-old Ottawa motorcyclist was taken to Overland Park Regional Medical Center Wednesday morning after he was stuck by a hit and run driver at the intersection of Sixth Street and South Willow. Police are asking for help in tracking down the driver. John Bishop was riding his 2002 Suzuki motorcycle east on Sixth Street when the rear fender of his bike was struck by a mini-van going south on Willow, Ottawa Police Capt. Adam Weingartner said. Bishop was thrown from his bike. The driver of the mini-van left the scene, Weingartner said. Witnesses describe the mini-van as being either maroon or gray in color, and being driven by a white woman with dark hair, he said. It’s not known if the van was damaged by the collision but could have orange paint from the impact with the motorcycle, Weingartner said. Ottawa police are asking for help in finding the driver of the mini-van or anyone else who might have more information about the crash. They can call the Ottawa Police Department or Franklin County Crime Stoppers.
