LAWRENCE – Kansas University professor and indie filmmaker Kevin wWillmott will talk about the Tuskegee airmen in a program April 9 at the Dole Institute of Politics at KU In addition, KU will offer two free screenings of the movie about the exploits of the Tuskegee airmen in World War II “Red Tails.” The movies will be shown this afternoon at 2:30 and tonight at 7 in the Centennial Room of the Kansas Union. Movie snacks will be provided. Wilmott, who recently spoke at Ottawa University, will talk the evening of april 9 at 7:30 about the Red Tails and the experience of other black service personnel during World War II. His presentation will be free. His movies frequently explore race in America. Also at the Dole Institute this month is a temporary exhibit titled “World War II and African Americans in the Kansas Region,” featuring photographs, documents, correspondence, a Tuskegee airman uniform and a small model of the earliest plane flown by the Tuskegee airmen.
