A Douglas County man is going to prison after a Supreme Court ruling. According to the Lawrence Journal World, Zachary Toahty-Harvey will spend the next five years in prison after pleading no contest to the charge of aggravated liberties with a child. Toahty-Harvey was also sentenced to a lifetime of supervision after his release. While he accepted the five year sentence, Toahty-Harvey protested the lifetime of supervision after is released, claiming it was “cruel and unusual punishment.” The Supreme Court rebuked his objection and affirmed its ruling.
