TOPEKA – Kansas Legislators have passed a bill in an effort to crack down on human trafficking. The Kansas House of Representatives and the Senate passed the bill last week and governor Sam Brownback is expected to sign the bill in the near future. Among its many other modifications to the current system, the bill creates the crime of commercial sexual exploitation of a child, including children between the ages of 14 through 17. The bill also enforces fines and forfeitures of property on those convicted and will use the money to aid in the treatment and recovery of the victims.
