OVERLAND PARK — An Overland Park police officer who lives in Gardner suffered minor injuries when another car hit his patrol car while he was responding to an emergency call in Overland Park Sunday. Officer Clay Perina, 36, was driving west on 135th Street with lights and sirens activated and tried to turn north onto Hemlock Street when his car was hit by a car driven by Abdul Meghjani, 62, Overland Park, the Kansas Highway Patrol said. Perina was was taken to Overland Park Regional Medical Center, where he was treated and released. Meghjani and two passengers, Anwar Lakhani, 60, and Ashraf Lakhani, 52, both of Harrisonville, Mo., reported possible injuries but refused treatment at the scene. The highway patrol said they were all wearing seat belts.
