LAWRENCE — Wes Jackson will be the speaker at the University of Kansas’ 141st commencement May 19. A KU graduate, Jackson is founder of the Land Institute and an internationally-recognized advocate for sustainable agriculture. The Land Institute, Salina, has worked on sustainable crops and seeks a prairie carpeted with perennial grains that can be grown without industrial fertilizers, oil-consuming tractors and mechanical irrigation. He and the Land Institute have received several awards for their work.
