TOPEKA — The National Weather Service has issued a tornado watch for the entire KOFO listening area until 10 p.m. tonight. People in the Franklin County area and south and east of I-35 should watch out for severe storms this afternoon and tonight, said Topeka weather service forecaster Chad Ohmitt. There’s a strong chance that east central Kansas could see severe storms packing heavy rains and flooding, high winds, baseball-sized hail and even tornadoes. “The further east and south you go, the worse the weather conditions will be,” he said. The biggest threat is between 3-10 p.m. There could also be heavy rains of up to 2 to 3 inches falling on east-central Kansas after midnight, he said.
