IOLA — The long-time publisher of the Iola Register has died at the age of 88 at a Topeka hospice.  Before he sold the paper to his daughter, Emerson Lynn, Jr., was known for the editorials he wrote in the Register.  His career in journalism spanned more than 60 years.  Lynn was inducted into the Kansas Press Association’s Hall of Fame and was the first recipient of Kansas State University’s Rural Development Institute’s  Lifetime Achievement Award.  His family plans a May 4 memorial service.
