OTTAWA — Two of the three finalists to be the new Ottawa School Superintendent met the public this week.  Dr. Jeanne Stroh, currently is Assistant Superintendent in the Hutchinson School District, said she’d like to look at ways to keep students from dropping out  Ottawa Schools has made good progress in lowering the drop-out rate but she said she’ll look at a mentoring program.  Another priority is hiring a curriculum director, she said.  A curriculum director is also a high priority for Dr. Brian Kraus, interim Ottawa Superintendent, who has also applied for the position.  Kraus said he wants to concentrate on teaching Ottawa students soft skills that would help in later life and in the employment market, including the need to set and meet goals, teamwork, critical thinking and punctuality.  A third candidate is scheduled to be in Ottawa Monday.
