KINCAID — No trial date has been set for two Missouri men accused of trying to rob the Citizens National Bank in Kincaid in March. The Anderson County Review reports 28-year-old Daniel Waddell of La Russell and 32-year-old Stephen Hudson of Webb City have been in federal custody since their arrest on March 6. They are each facing a federal charge of bank robbery. Two people tried to get into the bank but were thwarted by security measures installed at the bank after a successful robbery there several years ago. The would-be robbers fled and were tailed by a “good Samaritan” who was a customer at the bank and who relayed their position to law enforcement while he pursued their pickup. The men shot at the good Samaritan during their flight. When officers caught up to the pickup in Linn county, they took off at high speed, firing shots at pursuing officers. A state trooper’s patrol car was damaged by bullets. When the pickup was stopped on K-7 north of Mound City, the men exchanged gunfire with officers. A suspect was slightly injured. A court hearing for pre-trial motions has been scheduled for July 30 in US district court in Kansas City, Kansas.
