OTTAWA — The Ottawa Volunteer Center is looking for volunteers for a variety of work. ECKAN seeks people to help put down wood mulch and compost on community gardens. Volunteer Director Janice Craft says Jake Howard will bring his trailer smoker to the site and cook some delicious meats for volunteers. To volunteer call 785-214-4556 or email [email protected]. The ECKAN Center at Osage City needs volunteers for a poverty simulation at Osage City Senior Center on Thursday, May 23. Volunteers will to sit at tables dispensing tokens and paperwork to give participants a clearer perception of a daily life of poverty. Training will be provided.
