GARNETT — Four Garnett churches have agreed to serve as public storm shelters. The Anderson County Review reports a local emergency committee has been working since last summer to establish such shelters in Garnett.  The churches are the first United Methodist Church, Holy Angels Catholic Church, First Baptist and the Dunkard Brethren Church on the west edge of town.  In the event of severe weather alerts, emergency management officials will notify a representative of the church that the shelters need to be opened, Garnett City Manager Joyce Martin said.
