OTTAWA — A preliminary hearing for an Ottawa man charged in connection with the accidental shooting of a 4-year-old Ottawa boy in early December has been set for June 5. Brian Bruno has been charged with aggravated battery, aggravated child endangerment and child endangerment in connection with the shooting, in which the boy was struck in the leg while he was sitting on the floor of a home in north Ottawa. The preliminary hearing will determine if there is enough evidence to try Bruno. Ottawa police said Bruno was showing a handgun to someone else and pulled the trigger, thinking the gun was unloaded.
