OTTAWA–The new Kansas Concealed Carry Firearms Law has Ottawa City Commissioners concerned. City Attorney Bob Bezek told Commissioners that the law allows people with approved permits to carry concealed firearms into public buildings, including City Hall. The City Commission is expected to apply for an exemption from the law for a time to figure out how to deal with the law and its effect on public buildings. One possible solution could include installing a metal detector at the front entrance to City Hall. The law takes effect July 1.
