Ottawa Police Investigate Unattended Death
Today, at 9.48 a.m. Ottawa Police Department patrol officers responded to the 900 block of S. Cedar to investigate the report of a dead body found in an apartment. Patrol officers confirmed the presence of deceased woman in a house converted to a multi-unit apartment building.
The scene was secured and a comprehensive investigation was launched to determine the cause of death. The dead woman has been preliminarily identified, is 29-years-old, and the next of kin notified. The name of the woman found will not be released until positive identification is made.
As part of the investigation Dr. Bud Ransom, Coroner, responded to examine the body and review the scene where the body was found. In a joint decision with police, Dr. Ransom contacted Medical Examiner Erik Mitchell who responded from Kansas City to assist in this investigation. Also assisting in this investigation are members of the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office.
