HANOVER — The annual re-ride of the Pony Express Trail will make a stop at the Hollenberg Pony Express Station State Historic Site near Hanover sometime between 6 and 7:30 a.m. June 18. The Hollenberg Station and the visitor center will be closed at that time, but visitors are welcome to gather on the grounds and wait for the rider to arrive and exchange the mail pouch with the new rider and horse. The re-ride is hosted by the National Pony Express Association and will go nearly 2,000 miles from St. Joseph, Mo., to Sacramento, Calif. The group said more than 600 horses and riders, going 24 hours a day, will cover the route in 10 days.
