PAOLA — The Paola Free Library will soon turn over a new leaf. The Paola City Council, sitting as the public building commission, is looking at three companies to oversee a renovation of the library. The group will ask the three companies – who are Legacy Contractors of Paola, Loyd Builders of Ottawa and Strickland Construction Company of Olathe — to make presentations concerning the project. Paola voters approved a half-cent sales tax increase eight years ago to renovate public facilities, including the city hall, the Paola Community Center, the pool and build the Paola Justice Center. The library is the last project to be financed by the half-cent sales tax.
