OTTAWA — The Ottawa school district will repair roofs and the epoxy floors at Lincoln and Garfield schools, and make repairs to the Eugene Field Elementary School roof. Most of the money for the nearly $3 million projects will come from a lawsuit settlement with the contractor that originally built the new Lincoln Elementary School and did the Garfield expansion, said Brian Kraus, interim superintendent. Repairing Lincoln and Garfield will cost about $2.4 million, and the repairs to part of the flat roof on Eugene Field will be about $290,000. Kraus said a little more than $71,000 will be left from the settlement after repairs are done to Lincoln and Garfield. The leftover money will be combined with capital outlay funds to pay for the Eugene Field roof repairs, he said.
