OSAWATOMIE — Osawatomie rancher Randy Kitchen will be in Miami County District Court July 11 to face accusations that he fired a handgun at people in two vehicles April 28. Miami County attorney Elizabeth Sweeney-Reeder tells The Osawatomie Graphic that Kitchen has been charged with two felony counts of criminal discharge of a firearm at an occupied vehicle, two felony counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and one misdemeanor count of battery. The paper reports that he was arrested after the Miami County Sheriff’s Office investigated a report that Kitchen fired a small-caliber handgun at two vehicles carrying people who were on his property and rental property. Kitchen is free on bond. Kitchen is a member of the Miami County Planning Commission.
