OTTAWA — A 49-year-old Ottawa man was taken to Lawrence Memorial Hospital Saturday night as a result of a crash north of Baldwin City. The Kansas Highway Patrol says a Douglas County Deputy tried to stop a pickup in the 400 block of East 1700 Road but the driver wouldn’t stop and took off. The deputy was told to drop the pursuit. The Highway Patrol says the vehicle entered the curve just south of North 466 and East 1700 and the driver lost control. The pickup went into the east ditch and rolled over. The Highway Patrol says Scott Butler of Ottawa received disabling injuries. He wasn’t wearing a seat belt.
