LEAVENWORTH — A brigadier general from the Nebraska Army National Guard has been named as the commander of the 35th Infantry Division Nebraska Assistant Adjutant General Michael Navrkal will succeed Maj. Gen. John Davoren on Oct. 5 at Ft. Leavenworth. His selection was a joint decision of the 35th Division Council made up of the adjutants general from Kansas, Nebraska, Missouri and Illinois, whose National Guard soldiers make up much of the division. Navrkal served in several Nebraska units and deployed to Iraq from 2006 to 2007 as commander of 1,700 soldiers in the 867th Corps Support Battalion. The 35th Infantry Division is headquartered at Ft. Leavenworth.
