OTTAWA — The following is a news statement from the Ottawa Police Department pertaining to the China Palace robbery that occurred Thursday evening.
On Thursday July 11, 2013 at about 10:56 p.m. Ottawa police were called to investigate a robbery that occurred in the China Palace parking lot, 910 South Main Street.  The victim, a 57-year-old male from Ottawa who works at the restaurant, reported he was robbed in the parking lot after leaving the business.  The victim did not see the attacker and suffered minor injuries during the robbery; he was transported to Ransom Memorial Hospital for treatment and released.  An undisclosed amount of money, an iPad, a men’s brown wallet and black attaché style bag were taken during the robbery.
On Friday July 12, 2013 detectives and officers with the Ottawa Police Department developed information about a possible suspect(s).  Two search warrants were served as part of the investigation.  On Friday July 12, 2013 at about 8:30 p.m. a search warrant was served by the department’s Special Tactics and Rescue Team (STAR) at a residence in the 300 block of South Walnut.  A second search warrant was served at a residence in the 600 block of South Hickory on Saturday July 13, 2013 at about 1:00 p.m.  Evidence and items taken during the robbery were recovered from both residences.

The investigation led to the arrest of the following individuals:
-Terry Gibson, an 18-year-old male from Ottawa arrested for Aggravated Robbery, Aggravated Battery and Theft.
-A 17-year-old male from Ottawa was arrested for Aggravated Robbery, Aggravated Battery and Theft.
-A 17 year-old female from Ottawa was arrested for Aggravated Robbery and Theft.
Gibson is currently being held in the Franklin County Adult Detention Center awaiting a court appearance. The two juveniles are currently being held in the Franklin County Juvenile Detention Center awaiting a court appearance.  A fourth person arrested, a 17-year-old male from Ottawa, was arrested for possession of drug paraphernalia during a search warrant service.
