LAWRENCE — A Kansas University dinosaur researcher says he’s proved that Tyrannosaurus Rex was indeed the terrible tyrant-lizard king of the dinosaurs and a vicious killing machine, and not Jurassic-Period pansy that some scientists have to tried to paint it. For more than a century, some paleontologists have argued that T-Rex was a buzzard-like scavenger rather than a true predator. However, a team led by KU dinosaur guy David Burnham has found evidence at the Hell Creek Site in the South Dakota Black Hills that T-Rex was a prehistoric hit-lizard. Using a CAT scanner, they found a T-Rex tooth buried in the spine of a plant-eater called a Hadrosaur. He says the scan showed the Hadrosaur survived the attack and the T-Rex probably went away hungry. The Hadrosaurs were duck-billed dinosaurs that researchers say were speedy, moved in packs and were difficult to hunt. His team describes the find in the current issue of ‘The Poceedings of the National Academy of Sciences.’
