LYNDON — Weather permitting, a resurfacing project will begin Monday on an eight-mile stretch of the two-lane portion of U.S. 75 from the Marais des Cygnes River bridge to the south Osage County line south of Lyndon. Project work includes milling away of more of three inches of existing pavement followed by the application of a hot mix asphalt overlay and all new pavement markings. The resurfacing project will smooth the road and fill surface defects, the Kansas Department of Transportation said. Work will take place during daylight hours, Monday through Friday, with some occasional Saturday work. Beginning Monday, north-bound and south-bound U.S. 75 will be reduced to one lane at several mile segments. Traffic will be directed through the project work zone via flaggers, concrete barriers, channelizers and signage. The project should be completed in early November. The total contract cost is $3.3 million.
