TOPEKA — Flood warnings remain in effect for a number of areas across central, south central and southeast Kansas. Overnight storms dumped an additional two to four inches of rain over much of southern Kansas with more rain expected across the region through the rest of the week, the Kansas Division of Emergency Management said. Flooding claimed one life in Iola in the last week and two people were rescued from the Kansas River at Wamego Monday, KDEM said. Flood warnings were in effect for rivers and streams in several Kansas counties, including Coffey and Lyon counties. The Cottonwood River at Emporia has crested and is falling and predicted to fall below flood stage late tonight. The Neosho River at Neosho Rapids has crested and is also falling. A flood warning was issued for much of Anderson County this morning but was later allowed to expire by 8:45 a.m.
