CARBONDALE — Carbondale’s third annual Getting Up From the Fall 5-K Run/Walk will help a Lawrence couple dealing with the death of their 19-month-old daughter.  The Lawrence Journal-World reports Nolan and Danyel Deitrich face tens of thousands of dollars in medical bills for treating their baby, Lila.  Lila was diagnosed with epilepsy and a rare genetic abnormality.  She died of a respiratory virus.  Although the couple has health insurance and qualified for state assistance, there still wasn’t enough to cover all of their baby’s medical expenses. They had to borrow money to bury her.  The Carbondale Run is designed as an annual medical fundraiser for people from the community.  A paraprofessional and assistant coach at Free State High School in Lawrence, Nolan Deitrich grew up in Carbondale and attended Santa Fe Trail High School.
