OTTAWA — Rain, rain everywhere but still a drop of drought. The City of Ottawa will continue its weekly drought updates despite the frequent rains. The City says although conditions in the area have improved, the Kansas Water Office hasn’t lifted the drought watch that is in effect for users along the Marais des Cygnes River. Until the Water Office drops the watch, the City will continue the updates. Pomona Lake and Melvern Lake remain the City’s main sources of water and both lakes have still not recovered completely from two to three years of punishing drought.
