LAWRENCE — The second workshop in the series called “Food Hubs and Coops: How Local Family Farms Can Feed Our Communities” will be offered August 29, Thursday morning from 9 to noon in the Douglas County Fair’s Dreher Building in Lawrence.  The workshop will provide farmers, community organizations, and local governmental entities with information on food hub development.  The Kansas Farmers Union says the workshop will review the Wisconsin Food Hub Cooperative and how to do a feasibility study and develop a business plan for launching a food hub.  Food hubs try to develop cooperatives of local farmers and use regional food distribution networks to connect to local consumers.  For information or to register, check the Kansas Farmers Union web site at kansasfarmersunion.org.
