TOPEKA – It was a record-setting year for the Kansas Attorney General’s office. During fiscal year 2013, investigators and prosecutors recovered more than $33 million in medicaid fraud. That amount is up from the previous high mark of $28 million recoved during fiscal year 2011. The attorney general’s office prosecuted 14 medicaid fraud cases in fiscal year 2013, resulting in $2.3 million in ordered restitution. $16.3 million was recovered in civil judgments, and participation in national settlements brought in an additional $15.1 dollars.
