OSAGE CITY — Motorists who use U.S. 56 in Osage County may want to find an alternate route for the next few weeks. A resurfacing project began this morning on a 28-mile stretch of U.S. 56 between the Lyon-Morris county line and the K-31 intersection in Osage County. East- and west-bound U.S. 56 will be reduced to one lane at several one-mile segments at a time and traffic will be directed through the work zones by channelizers and flaggers. There will also be a 12-foot lane width restriction. Work will take place during daylight hours, Monday through Friday, with some occasional Saturday work.
