KANSAS — East Kansas Agri Energy stockholders have turned back a hostile take-over of the company’s board of directors at their recent annual meeting. Arizona Financier Scott Brittenham controls 25 percent of the stock, and he sought to replace almost all of the directors. The Anderson County Review reports that he dropped his takeover try before the annual meeting. Instead, Brittenham tried to place himself and an ally on the board of directors. All of the other stockholders rejected Brittenham’s bid to get onto the board by a 2 to 1 margin. East Kansas Agri Energy owns the Garnett Ethanol Plant. After a shutdown of about a year, the plant is scheduled to begin buying corn next week and resume production a little later next month.
