OTTAWA — The Walton Family Foundation has donated $5,000 towards the $150,000 Forest Park Playground Project.  Ottawa Play Task Force Chair Fonda Rose says the effort has also received nearly $1,100 from funding factory. That donation was a result of the city ‘s recycling phones, ink cartridges, copier print cartridges and other small electronics from the public.   With the new donations, the task force has raised $114,000.  Rose says there’s hope for a $20,000 grant from Kaboom.  She says if that grant or more funds aren’t raised by November 1, the playground will be scaled back.   Construction on the new playground set will begin in the spring.  The new set will replace a timber play set north of the Forest Park tennis courts and have lots of features to encourage active play that works lots of muscles and is accessible to children with disabilities.  Members of the Ottawa Play Task Force have been asked to make a presentation at a National Playful City USA leaders summit in Baltimore.
