OTTAWA — It’s a good idea to always have proof of car insurance at all times in your car. However, there is another alternative…and Ottawa Police Chief Dennis Butler says the last Kansas Legislative Session made some interesting changes in the law concerning insurance. Drivers can now use electronic devices such as smart phones to provide proof of insurance, he said. The new procedure is outlined in the 2013 standard traffic ordinance. The Ottawa City Commission is expected to officially adopt the changes at its next meeting September 4th.
