KANSAS — The kansas national guard will lay off more than 100 full-time technicians, close one military maintenance center and sharply cut maintenance operations at another because of federal sequester budget cuts. The Kansas Adjutant General’s Department said the Readiness Sustainment Maintenance Site in Salina will be closed and operations similar repair site at Fort Riley will be curtailed by January. The shops’ annual budget of $22 million will be cut by $15 million. The shops rebuild and refurbish military equipment for the Department of Defense. The work being done will be reduced, Maj. Gen. Lee Tafanelli, Kansas Adjutant General, said.
