LYNDON — A Lyndon man who appeared in a wilderness survival reality TV show two years ago will make a return appearance to the wilderness in a feature film next month. Registered nurse Gene Jarvis appeared in the Discovery Channel show “I, Caveman.” He spent 10 days in the Colorado wilderness with only stone age technology to survive. However, the Topeka Capital-Journal reports a year before that, Jarvis served as medic for a movie crew filming an adventure movie based on the book “Alone, Yet Not Alone” by Tracy Leininger Craven. When an actor who didn’t show up for a pivotal scene, Jarvis says he was drafted to fill the role. The film was made by a Christian film company and tells the true story of sisters Barbara and Regina Leininger, who were captured by the Delaware Indians in a raid on their Pennsylvania home during the French and Indian War in 1755. They were taken across more than 300 miles of wilderness to Ohio and separated. They survived and reunited, with only their faith in God and hope of escape to sustain them. Jarvis says he may pursue acting jobs in the future, but in the interim he’ll keep his day job as a registered nurse.
