OTTAWA — A 25-year-old Waverly man was booked into the Franklin county jail Sunday in connection with several counterfeit 20-dollar bills floating around in the area.
Brian Bender was booked into the jail for theft and forgery. The Franklin County Sheriff’s Department said a clerk at the Pomona Dollar General Sore refused a bill she thought was counterfeit and called 911. The man trying to pass the bill left the scene before deputies arrived. However, the Ottawa Police Department picked up Bender in connection with several counterfeit bills passed in Ottawa. The sheriff’s office said there are several reports of counterfeits passed at Pomona stores.
