CHANUTE — The city of Ottawa and two other municipalities, and the Kansas Department of Health and Environment will host a workshop on Oct. 3, to help other communities in redeveloping so-called brownfield properties. The workshop will be at the Memorial Building in Chanute. The KDHE and the three cities received a federal grant to chart and plan to clean brownfields, which are former commercial and industrial sites with lingering environmental pollution.
