Ottawa – Lock up! That is the simple message that Ottawa Police Chief Dennis Butler is delivering on a regular basis these days. Butler estimates that 90-percent of most thefts are due to valuables simply being left unlocked. Ottawa Police say that there have been so many bicycle thefts this year, that the crime rate has doubled because of it. Police are also warning residents to close up their garage doors, and reminding women that shop with a purse to keep a close eye on it if they leave the purse in the sitting area of shopping carts.
