OTTAWA — Beginning next Monday, the Kansas Department of Transportation plans to begin concrete patching on 47 miles of I-35 through Franklin, Miami, Osage, and Coffey counties. KDOT said the contractor plans to begin at the north end of the project and go south. In addition, a contractor will resurface 12 miles of I-35 in Coffey County between Beto Junction and the Lyon County line. Work will take place during both day- and night-time hours and should have a minimal effect on drivers, KDOT said. I-35 traffic will be reduced to one lane with a 55-mile-per-hour speed limit in the work zones. The projects should be finished by late October, weather permitting.
