LOUISBURG — The Miami County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the theft of metal from a radio tower near Louisburg last week. KCTV Channel 5 reports although the theft of metal isn’t unusual in rural areas, this theft is unusual because it was committed in broad daylight, but one of the two men involved was armed. A surveillance video from the tower showed two men backing up to a security fence and then using the car to hop over the fence. The men took a security safety cover for the tower’s ladder, 100 to 150 microwave couplers and two 24-inch microwave feed horns. The value of the stolen items was estimated at $3,500. KCTV says one of the men was carrying a rifle during the theft.
