LAMAR, Mo. — Two people were killed and four people were seriously injured, including a 20-year-old Pomona woman, in a two-vehicle crash Saturday near Lamar in southwestern Missouri. Caleb Neely, 23, Dadeville, Mo., was driving a car east on Missouri Highway 126 but failed to stop at a stop sign at Missouri Highway 43 and pulled in front of a pickup driven by Crystal Carter, 30, Lamar, the Missouri Highway Patrol said. Carter’s pickup, which was northbound on Missouri 4 , hit Neely’s car and both went off the road and her pickup overturned. The highway patrol said a passenger in Neely’s car, Nicholas Chase, 22, Olathe;was pronounced dead at the scene. Carter was taken by helicopter to Freeman West Hospital, Joplin, where she died. A passenger in her truck, Hiram Ruth, 32, Lamar, was also flown to Freeman West Hospital for serious injuries. Three passengers in Neely’s car were also taken to Freeman West Hospital for serious injuries — Kaylene Wray, Pomona; Tracy Morgan, 20, Argonia; and Devin Walter, 23, Topeka. Neely wasn’t injured.
