FORT SCOTT — A Bourbon County jury convicted Brent Bollinger, 26, Fort Scott, of murder, aggravated arson and aggravated child endangerment today after a two-week trial. Attorney General Derek Schmidt, whose office served as special prosecutor, said Bollinger was charged in the 2011 death of his wife bBrenna Bollinger, injuries to his then-2-year-old son Bryson and the burning of the family’s home near Fort Scott. Bollinger also received burns over nearly 70 percent of his body from the fire. The Fort Scott Tribune reported testimony that Bollinger’s wife had been having an affair and wanted a divorce. The Tribune said a forensic examination of her body indicated that she had been strangled before the fire occurred. Sentencing is Nov. 22.
