LAWRENCE — One Kansas photographer wasn’t amused by a recent poll that ranked Kansas as having the ugliest landscapes in the country. Lawrence chemist and photographer Scott Bean told the Lawrence Journal-World that when he heard the results of the Business Insider poll, he decided to respond. Bean put his most breathtaking photographs of the Flint Hills, Red Hills and the unique rock formations of Kansas into a in a slideshow on Vimeo that he calls “This is My Kansas and it is Bbeautiful.” He said the slideshow has been getting fast national attention. Bean said most people’s view of Kansas is from driving along I-70, which he concedes is pretty boring. Colorado was picked as the most beautiful state by the Business Insider poll. Mississippi was voted the dumbest state, and New York, was voted as both the rudest and most arrogant of the states.
