CANEY — To anyone from Garnett, the Halloween-themed fundraiser for a new Caney library in extreme southern Kansas Saturday will have a familiar feel. The Anderson County Review reports that several Garnett residents will give Caney a helping hand for the Caney Zombie Walk fundraiser. 4Bella, the singing group made of Anderson County High School students Miranda Woosley, Kaylan Peine, Amber Mauldin and Hope Theisman who made through two rounds of X Factor auditions, will perform Saturday afternoon at 1. Garnett author and screenwriter Craig McGee of Garnett, will serve as a judge for the Zombie Haiku contest and as an MC for Zombie Walk events. He is a Caney native and a graduate of Caney Valley High School. He told the Review he credits Caney librarian, the late Julia Koplan for his love of reading, and he said he’s glad to help raise money for a new library. Garnett city commissioner Preston Peine will help McTee as MC for the Zombie Walk.
