OTTAWA – Ottawa police officers are doing Halloween today and tonight. As officers patrol the neighborhoods, they’ll periodically stop. At that time and if it’s safe, Halloween trick-or-treaters can approach the cars on the passenger side and the officers will give them treats, Capt. Adam Weingartner said. “We do it every year,” he said. “It’s just another way that we try to get our officers out in the neighborhoods in the community and interact with the kids, particularly on a night when so many people are going to be out and walking around and having a good time.” In addition, he said if young ghosts and ghouls stop by the Ottawa Police Department today until 5, the records unit will offer them treats.
