OTTAWA — The Franklin County and Miami County ambulance services have been working on an expanded swap of coverage areas. The original agreement, which has been in effect for years, recognized that it’s faster for Franklin County ambulances to respond to emergencies along I-35 in Miami County, and it’s faster for Miami County ambulances to respond to emergencies along U.S. 169 in Franklin County, Franklin County EMS director Nick Robbins said. Robbins saId under the new swap agreement, Franklin County EMS would respond to all calls in the extreme northwest corner of Miami County centered on I-35, and Miami County EMS would respond to all calls in the extreme southeast corner of Franklin County, including Timberlake Estates south of Lane. He said each county’s 911 dispatch systems would be adjusted so calls would automatically go to the correct ambulance service.
