PAOLA — The Miami County fall harvest is now virtually over. This year’s corn and soybean harvest wasn’t as bad as many had expected, Miami County agricultural and natural resources agent Cody Sloan said. “We’re not setting records by any stretch of the imagination but we had a decent year,” he said. Like other areas of east-central Kansas, yields were highly variable and depended on planting dates, soil conditions and locations, he said. However, on the average, soybean yields reached the annual average and in some cases bettered the average, he said. “Things have been pretty good for the most part,” Sloan said.
