OTTAWA–The Ottawa Fire Department was able to quickly put out a small house fire yesterday. A fire department report says late Tuesday afternoon, a call came in of a house fire at 205 S Cedar Street. When fire trucks arrived, a fire was found on the southeast side of the house by a back deck. Authorities say there were some leaves on fire, and it was spreading to some decking material and some siding of the back corner of the house. Flames were quickly extinguished. The occupant of the house says she had removed some ashes from a wood stove the previous day and put the ash can outside about 20 minutes before fire trucks arrived. Damage to the house is listed as minimal.
