GARNETT — A 49-year-old Olathe man was taken to Anderson County Hospital in Garnett after losing a race with law enforcement officers Saturday afternoon. William Travis, Jr., was driving at a high rate of speed north along U.S. 169 at Garnett trying to outrun pursuing officers, the Kansas Highway Patrol said. Travis lost control of his car and crashed through a fence, the highway patrol said. He wasn’t wearing a seat belt.
